Bluegrass Events and COVID-19 - UPDATE

Bluegrass Events and COVID-19 - UPDATE

In the past, we have enjoyed providing our friends, The Finley River Boys and the Schwartz Family, a venue to bring together Bluegrass music with an Amish Dinner. These have always been very popular and sold out. Generally, we host two events in the year, Spring and Fall. We have previously done a July Bluegrass with a more laid back, casual event outside, not dinner, but offering desserts.

This year’s Spring event was postponed due to the COVID-19 Epidemic, and we have remained uncertain of how this would play out having sold out again. We made most aware that we had two dates in the year, and offer credit for these upcoming future events, or gift certificate credit. In the end, the CDC, government, and health unit recommendations and duration, will play into future decisions, practices and how we approach them.

That said, here’s what we “plan” to do moving forward:

Bluegrass and Dessert Under the Stars - July 25th, 2020 (Saturday evening)

Bluegrass & Dessert

We had put this date into our schedule last year planning to do another outside Bluegrass & Dessert event, and plan to move forward with that. For those who have not attended the first one, it works like this – bring your own lawn chair, setup outside on or adjacent to our deck where The Finley River Boys will be setup and performing, and relax and kick back. Blackberry Creek Retreat B&B will provide a selection of desserts and treats, coffee and drinks. This allows us to meet the present “social distancing” criteria being followed today as it is outside and not restricted to the closeness and constraints of our indoor event and numbers.

Costs is $10. At this time, we want to RSVP the event to see our numbers, and will take payment at the door. Present ticket holders can use their tickets towards this event, with balance credited to use at our B&B store, future event (see below), or stay at our Bed & Breakfast.

Desserts at Bluegrass Event

COVID-19 Notes – With this type of event, we can safely plan for “Social Distancing” in our seating. We’ll have hand wash and sanitizer stations, and desserts will be pre-plated and wrapped individually for individual serving and protection. Servers will be used. Masks can be worn, are recommended (CDC) but a personal decision.

Amish Dinner and Bluegrass - September 19th , 2020 (Saturday evening)

This date also was held for our Fall Amish Dinner & Bluegrass event and will remain planned as such. We feel by this time, a clearer definition to where the virus is, social distancing issues, etc. play out. We may end up with a smaller crowd, setup and distanced to accommodate dining. We are closely monitoring this, trying not to be by media sensationalism, rather data and inputs from local health and county officials as reopening takes place. Our county has had a LOW impact, and we feel

Costs is $25. At this time, we want to RSVP this event as well, and verify our numbers. Present ticket holders can use their tickets towards this event, or/any balance credited to use at our B&B Store, future event, or stay at our Bed & Breakfast.

COVID-19 Notes – Since this is an indoor event with tighter seating, we plan for “Social Distancing” by reducing numbers and seat spread. We’ll have hand wash and sanitizer stations, and desserts will be pre-plated and wrapped individually for individual serving and protection. Buffet and servers will be used in lieu of our traditional “family style” service. This event at this time may change in rules as we get further down the COVID-19 path and know more at that time.

We reopened on May 30th and have been quite busy since opening, as America wants to breakout and return to normal living. However, COVID-19 is not eliminated, and is real. While we are doing the best effort forward in cleaning and preventing spread, we know we can’t control exposure to ourselves, and know for certain incoming guests status. Like most businesses, we ask about travel, exposure, fever, etc., but can’t rely entirely on their replies. Our county has had a very light impact, but like many areas, have seen spikes. Much uncertainty, confusing information, etc. We feel we are doing our best on this side, time will tell…..

If you have questions about these events, your purchased seats, etc., feel free to contact us at reception@blackberrycreekretreat.com and we’ll address them together. Thanks for being a Blackberry Creek Retreat B&B patron and friend.
