At Blackberry Creek Retreat Bed and Breakfast, one subject that gets talked about is "the food". We are humbled by the comments, but feel while we do not have the education, nor the background in "culinary arts," we have a strong desire to prepare and present a quality, unique, and filling dining experience. Mark likes to answer, when the word chef or culinary school arise, "I am just a cook".
The Retreat kicks off the first evening with a complimentary drink, our own signature Blackberry Spritzer, a refreshing blend of Missouri Blackberry Wine with other various fruit flavors, as we welcome each guest to Blackberry Creek Retreat B&B. Non-Alcoholic versions are available (Missouri-made Blackberry Cider in lieu of wine).
Our meals are served at mutually agreed to times upon your arrival or during your stay, and are set in the Retreat area you'll be working. For each meal, a different place settings, plating and centerpieces will greet you, a touch we enjoy providing our guests. One morning, we may be using vintage Memory Lane Ironstone plates, and that evening, vintage DeHaviland Blue Garland china. One tradition that our retreaters enjoy on our final evening together is donning one of Dixie's MANY vintage hats to dinner, making this dinner a fun and whimsical evening.
Initially for Retreats, we offered three meals for the day. However, our Retreaters informed us "too much food, too much time away from our work". So we cut back to two meals (breakfast and dinner), and setup and offered a Snack Table and Drink Service, in lieu of lunch. We will still offer a light lunch in lieu of our snack and drink table, or occasionally throw out some special treats or new recipes of finger foods or appetizers.
For those needing special meals, food restriction diets, or allergies, please alert us in advance so we may accommodate your needs. While we have standardized on the Two Meal / Day Plan + Snack and Drink Tables, we are prepared to discuss your event's special requests and needs.
